New Release: The GIrl from Summer Hill by Jude Deveraux: Review Post

The Girl from Summer Hill (Summer Hil#1)by

The first book of a new contemporary romance series set in the mountains of Virginia in a town with full of family legends, romance, and secrets from New York Times bestselling author of the Nantucket Brides trilogy.
Sparks fly as fiery Casey Reddick and brooding Hollywood actor Tate Landers clash in the Virginia summer heat. A chef who puts her career first and her love life second, Casey doesn’t see what every girl in town is swooning over. She made up her mind the moment she met Tate—he’s gorgeous, but stuck-up, nothing like his ex-brother-in-law, Devlin who’s playing the Wickham to Tate’s Darcy in local production of Pride & Prejudice. Casey makes the perfect Elizabeth Bennett—how could she be star-struck when she’s heard Devlin’s damning stories about Tate? As they rehearse together, however, Casey finds herself attracted to Tate—he’s much more down-to-earth than she expected and any physical contact between the two of them literally gives her a tingling, electric shock. As opening night draws near, Casey has some difficult decisions to make. Whom should she believe? The seemingly sincere, slighted Devlin or Tate, whose rough, arrogant exterior may only be skin deep. She’s come to love that jolt she gets when they touch—but will she get burned?

The Girl from Summer Hill can be summed up as a story within a play within lots of stories.  The start of a new series from the talented Ms. Jude Deveraux, we are transported into the charming town of Summer Hill, Virginia where a production of Pride & Prejudice is being staged for charity.  Led by the very elegant and distinguished Kit Montgomery (yes those Montgomerys!), the actors are set and the script has been written. As the town prepares and auditions are held and our heroine Acacia aka Casey prepares delicious pies and meals for the crew, two of Hollywoods gorgeous actors comes a calling.  The ever adventurous and charming Jack and the ever talented, swoonworthy Tate Landers.  And as the production proceeds in a manner not so planned, the play soon starts mirroring real life.   For the actors that play Lizzy and Darcy find themselves in a very twenty first century Pride & Prejudice plot.  The road to true love seems to be set on stage after all!

The Girl from Summer Hill will have you looking back at your beloved Pride and Prejudice in a totally different way.  Both Casey and Tate's characters are spot on Elizabeth and Darcy making readers think that this is how P&P could work in the twenty first century.  It's funny, sexy, silly and smart.  You would be frustrated, engaged, captivated and all out just in love with Tate and Casey and the rest of the gang of Summer Hill.
