The Seduction of Miriam Cross by Wendy Tyson
The Seduction of Miriam Cross is one mystery thriller that is guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seat. An excellently written, fast paced murder mystery that has a lot of twist and turns in the plot enough to keep you guessing in the end. Delilah Percy Powers, private investigator has been asked to help solve the murder of the famous novelist Miriam Cross. It turns out its never as simple as that. As Delilah and her team investigates further, revelations lead them to a path more dangerous than they could have imagined. This was a great storyline with more than solving the crime, it also delves into the dark social issues of human trafficking and slavery. Delilah was a fantastic female lead, strong, vulnerable with a take-no prisoner attitude. Despite her own emotional and psychological issues, this did not overtake the story, adding only a certain depth to it. Other secondary characters are gradually introduced as well. Credit to the author since there were no overwhelming feeling of too many characters, too many side stories that would tend to confuse the reader. Everything was tightly woven, seamlessly pieced together, making this a good, entertaining and engaging murder mystery thriller. Looking forward to more from Ms. Tyson and Ms. Delilah Percy Powers.
Synopsis:
A famous author. A secret life. A sexual awakening. A gruesome murder.
A team of women, private investigators led by a gutsy protagonist, make their mark in the first book of W.A. Tyson’s addicting, new Delilah Percy Powers Mystery Series.
A provocative murder mystery set in and around Philadelphia, catapults readers through the double life of literary author Miriam Cross, her final days, and a fatal secret that led to her brutal murder.
When the media ignores the grisly crime and the police department issues a gag order, Miriam’s niece knows something’s terribly wrong. When threatening phone calls begin, she turns to the one woman she knows she can trust: Delilah Percy Powers.
Smart and tough, though battling her own losses, Delilah takes the case. Her trusted staff members – an ex-nun, a militant soccer mom and an abrasive ex-stripper with killer abs– run down leads.
With little to go on but a sordid sex tape and the author’s newly discovered alias, the detectives set out to catch a killer and uncover Miriam’s demons without unleashing their own, especially after Delilah reluctantly hires Matthew Anderson, a somber and secretive investigative journalist with needed computer-hacking skills.
As the pieces of Miriam’s seemingly chaste life and mysterious death fall into place, Delilah becomes immersed in a dangerous world of unspeakable greed and cruelty that extends far beyond the death of a literary icon and U.S. borders.
Can Delilah find out who killed Miriam Cross without becoming the killer’s next target?
Gripping and hypnotic, Tyson’s gritty prose and sharp writing transcend gender and seduce readers in a tale that weaves blood, lust and the deadly world of human trafficking. The Seduction of Miriam Cross is an exhilarating picture of suspense that will keep readers stunned right up until the book’s shocking end.
