New Release: A WISH UPON JASMINE by Laura Florand

THE ULTIMATE FANTASY ESCAPE IN LAURA FLORAND’S A WISH UPON JASMINE

Book 2 La Vie en Roses – on sale August 2015
“Silky and addictive.”RT Book Reviews

Laura Florand, bestselling author of The Chocolate Kiss combines lush description, smart dialogue, provocative sensuality, and the perfume of love itself in A Wish Upon Jasmine, an irresistibly lush novel that is an ode to the scents and pleasures of the south of France and the beauty of falling in love.

Ruthless. That was what they said about Damien Rosier. Handsome. Wealthy. Powerful. Merciless. No one messed with his family, because to do so they would have to get through him. No one thought he had a heart. Not even the woman he gave his to.

Cynical. That was what they said about Jasmin Bianchi. A top perfumer of her generation, Jess had achieved  commercial success by growing a protective shell over a tender heart. The one time she cracked it open to let Damien in, he crushed it—after a night of unbelievable passion.

Lovers. That one magical night couldn’t survive the harsh light of dawn. When Jess woke up to discover the man in bed beside her had stolen her company, she fled.

Enemies. Now she’s come to the south of France with a threat to his family heritage. If he wants to reclaim both it and the woman who walked away from him, he’s going to have to fight as dirty as only Damien can.

But Jess knows how to fight dirty, too. And these days, she has nothing left to lose.

Certainly not her heart.

Review: *I .. like..dead* I have no words except, how feasible is it for me to move to France, like at  this moment.  Which is not doable (Darn it!) And so I just immersed myself in this book to the point that I feel soaked in the scent of Jasmine and just imbibe that lushness that is so apparent in Laura Florand's latest offering, A Wish Upon Jasmine.  This is the second book in the La Vie en Roses series, about a family of perfumers set in Grasse, the Rosiers.  A hardy lot, courageous, ambitious, honorable and this is just the grandparents. The five heirs to the kingdom as they say doesn't fall far from the tree.  We first met this indomitable family in the first book, Once Upon a Rose (which you should also read, I might add and this time immerse yourself in the scent of roses) which introduced the five male cousins, close as brothers, all with a role to play and all struggling to fill in those shoes in the name of family.  A Wish Upon Jasmine starts off differently,  for this time our protagonists have met, fell in love or lust depending on whose perspective and felt betrayed by one another.  They meet again six months later.  This time Jess Bianchin has inherited a piece of the family history of the Rosiers which Damien, the family business warrior, the wish bringer is tasked to take back.  But when they meet, its the same feeling again but this time around distrust abounds.  Can they fulfil each others wish for happiness during the Jasmine harvest?
Again, no words, this book is all feels, all emotions and the heat level is *starts the A/c*.
The qualities that make Laura Florand's books stand is still there, lyrical prose, the palpable love for the region, that indomitable spirit of her characters.  But the flaws of Jess and Damien are more apparent so there would be moments that resonate as real.  Because in real life, we do make mistakes, we let insecurities about ourselves take a hold of us and make decisions based on it.  Jess and Damien are like that but they learned to make adjustments, they take chances and they make themselves vulnerable for each other, all for love.  Its a definite must read for both fans and contemporary romance readers

PS: This series takes elements of certain fairy tales and incorporates it in the books. Once Upon A Rose is Goldilocks and a Bear (yes just one) I give you one guess about this book (bringer of wishes!)
