Unscrupulous is my first Avery Aster novel and it definitely delivers. The writing is deft, smart and witty. Each of the characters are well defined and fully fleshed out. Taddy is independent, brash, funny and so sexy not just in appearance but also in her outlook. Warner, Taddy's Big Daddy, is definitely your dominant billionaire type but surprisingly romantic, shy and wears his heart on his sleeves. Set in Manhattan, St. Barth, Cannes and even Vancouver, the author has definitely taken the reader into the world of the hardworking elite, self made billionaires who have attained their goals and is now in part living the dream but feels the definite lack of something. Taddy's character at first seems almost superficial in her actions and innermost thinking but as the story progresses she is definitely one complex woman. She radiates that aura of being all together on the outside but a little girl in the inside. She also has that inability to ask for what she really wants for fear of losing it before she actually has it. Warner on the other hand is definitely an open book when it comes to his feelings. He feels, he wants, he loves and then plots to get what he needs. Despite the trappings of almost superficial richness and opulence, the story in the end is truly about two people trying to connect at the basic level, initially thru lust then later on where it matters the most which is their hearts. Unscrupulous, is sexy, steamy and can I just say very original, vajazzle anyone?

Switched by Cassie Mae was a funny and often frustrating read but highly entertaining. Kayla, Wesley, Reagan and Talon were all friends. Reagan and Talon were a couple while Kayla and Wesley, well they've been pining for these two since high school. Told from Kayla's point of view, she, dragging Wesley along hatches a plan to break the happy couple apart. Because as everyone can see Talon is her soulmate while Wesley is Reagan's. Thus starts the funs and the laughs and the musical chairs between the four. Kayla as a character was frustrating initially for me, I have no idea whether its because she was being an evil bestfriend to Reagan or she really was in love with Talon. I could not really hate nor empathize with her at the start. As the story progressed and the romance part began, her sudden self awareness becomes believable.
