Under the Bright Lights was not an easy read, in fact it borders on depressing especially when we meet Mark and Lara, two people whose life  in New Orleans is definitely something that most people won't survive.  But they do meet, they fall in love and they separate under the darkest circumstances.  Lara is a showgirl in a burlesque, twenty year old, innocent and jaded.  She aspires to get out of the club she's working in before she's force into prostitution when she becomes expendable especially with a young child in her care whose catching the eye of the perverted people she works with.  Mark needs enough money to live on and maybe get him into the police academy.  But when he meets Lara all he wants is to protect her and to save her.  This book doesn't end happily but both escape the net of the people they find themselves in, not unscathed and definitely broken.  The story is two parts and so there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel for these two.  This book will definitely pull you in and make you uncomfortable but you will definitely turn the last page waiting to find out what happens to these two.

Switched by Cassie Mae was a funny and often frustrating read but highly entertaining. Kayla, Wesley, Reagan and Talon were all friends. Reagan and Talon were a couple while Kayla and Wesley, well they've been pining for these two since high school. Told from Kayla's point of view, she, dragging Wesley along hatches a plan to break the happy couple apart. Because as everyone can see Talon is her soulmate while Wesley is Reagan's. Thus starts the funs and the laughs and the musical chairs between the four. Kayla as a character was frustrating initially for me, I have no idea whether its because she was being an evil bestfriend to Reagan or she really was in love with Talon.
